Technical Analysis

Technical analysis focuses on past price movements and attempts to identify trends that indicate future price movement. The successful technical analyst, or chartist, buys and sells on the basis of his preferred technical indicators, believing that share prices move in patterns and that the patterns repeat themselves, and hopes to make a profit when the share price fulfils his predictions. Chartists are not interested in why a market movement has occurred.
