Fibonacci

Definition

An Italian mathematician, born Leonardo Pisano, who lived from 1170-1250. Most famous for the Fibonacci numbers, a sequence of numbers in which each number is the sum of the two preceding numbers. Thus:

1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, 55 etc.

The sequence has proved useful in many different areas of mathematics and science.
