X

  1. A Nasdaq stock symbol specifying that it is a mutual fund.
  2. A symbol used in stock transaction tables to indicate that a stock is trading ex-dividends or ex-rights.

Xa

Xa is short for Ex All.

Ex All indicates that shares offered for sale will not give the buyer any rights to current dividends, rights issues or scrip issues. Those rights will remain with the seller of the shares.

Xc

Xc is short for Ex Capitalization or Ex Scrip.

Xc indicates that shares offered for sale will not give the buyer any rights to current crip issues. Those rights will remain with the seller of the shares.

Xd

Xd is short for Ex Dividend.

Xd indicates that shares offered for sale will not give the buyer any rights to current dividends. Those rights will remain with the seller of the shares.

XDIS

XDIS is short for Ex Distribution.

XDIS indicates that shares offered for sale will not give the buyer any rights to receive the next distribution. Those rights will remain with the seller of the shares.

X-Efficiency

X-Efficiency is the degree of efficiency maintained by individuals and firms under conditions of imperfect competition.

Xenocurrency

A currency that trades in a market outside of its domestic borders. The prefix xeno is derived from the Greek word xenos, which means foreign or strange.

Examples:

When the Euro is traded in the United States, the Euro is a xenocurrency.

When the United States Dollar is traded in Japan, it is a xenocurrency.

Xetra

Xetra is an all-electronic trading system operated by Frankfurter Wertpapierbörse (Frankfurt Stock Exchange) based in Frankfurt, Germany.

Shares, funds, bonds, warrants and commodities contracts are traded through Xetra. Trading times on trading days are from 09:00 a.m. to 05:30 p.m.

In 2015, 90% of all trading in shares at all German stock exchanges was transacted through the Xetra system.

The Xetra system was originally created for use on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, but has expanded to be used by many other stock exchanges.

Over 200 trading participants are connected via Xetras servers in Frankfurt.

Xr or XRT

Xr and XRT are both short for Ex Rights.

Xr / XRT indicates that shares offered for sale will not give the buyer any rights to current rights issues. Those rights will remain with the seller of the shares.

Xw

Xw is short for Ex Warrants. This indicates that securities offered for sale are without entitlement to warrants. A security that is trading Ex Warrants (Xw) previously had a warrant attached to it but no longer does.

(The opposite, a security trading with warrants, uses the qualifier ww.)
